The United States Army Medical Research and Material Command (USAMRMC) conducts ongoing research in the areas of infectious disease, combat casualty care, military operational medicine and chemical biological defense. Infections disease research includes treatments for malaria, diarrhea, dengue, hanta virus, crub typhus, meningitis, HIV, AIDS, Leshmaniasis. Military Operational Medicine research includes advancements in bioenergetics, bioenergetics and metabolism, physiological monitoring, environmental extremes, injury biodynamics, brain injury, spinal injury, pulmonary injury, occupational task injury prevention, neurophysiology, cognitive performance, stress, psychological resilience, fatigue, psychophysics, nonionizing directed energy, visual performance, auditory performance, force health protection, deployment health, post deployment health, All United States Army Medical Research and Material Command programs are approved by the Department of Defense and receive partial funding from the Congressional Special Interest Medical Programs.
