Golden Technologies is one of the world's leading manufacturers of luxurious lift and recline chairs. The company's products include lift chairs, scooters, power wheelchairs and luxury adjustable beds. Robert Golden, Sr., and his partner, Fred Kiwak, founded Golden Technologies in 1985 in a garage in Pittston, Pa. The company manufactures three different power chair lines. The Alante power chairs feature a swiveling seat mechanism, so that clients can utilize the power chair as either a front-wheel drive or a rear-wheel drive unit. It also manufactures the Alero foldable power wheelchair for easy transportability. In 2005, Golden launched its newest power chair, the Golden Compass, a true center-wheel drive power chair. The company now occupies a 122,000 square-foot manufacturing plant in Old Forge, Pa., and employs 160 people in research and development, production, sales and customer service. The bulk of revenue is derived from activity in the medical industry.
