Dartmouth Biomedical Engineering Center is an educational facility and research facility focusing on biomedical materials research, biomedical engineering design, and orthopedica implant evaluation. Ongoing research includes implant retrieval program, and influence of design on in vivo wear, wear of articular and nonarticular surfaces of polyethylene and metal orthopedic implant components,, effects of sterilization and manufacturing methods on polyethylene orthopedic implant oxidation, in vivo performance of hard or hard orthopedic implant components, and in vivo performance of historical and new orthopedic implant polyethylenes.
